Frustration Rant – Non Make-up/Beauty Related

Hey Kids,

Its been a miserable week. You when you wake up and know that you have absolutely nothing to do? Yes its great for like about a month or at max 2 but when its coming to your 3rd month of not doing anything productive you or rather I start to get irritable, grouchy, lifeless anything negative I am IT.

It has come to a point where I dont even want to look at job sites anymore coz I am just so friggin sick and tired of applying and not getting calls. I do get a few interviews but it always turns out to be nothing.

 I am extremely exhausted of not doing anything!! I know what the hell right!?!?!? I am  not doing anything and yet I am absolutely TIRED! My routine includes;

1. Waking up
2. Having a look in the house, who is at home
3. Cleaning my bedroom
4. Shower
5. Having lunch or sometimes very rare breakfast coz I dont wake up in time
6. Laptop
7. Move around the house slowly
8. Finding faults with the clealiness of the house
9. Finding faults with myself
10. Finding faults with my stomach!!!
11. FINDING FAULTS WITH THE BATHROOMS
12. FINDING FAULTS WITH MY HAIR

Ok! So you guys get the picture. I am not cool, cute, nice, funny or anything sweet now. I am a self-proclaimed devil. I hate it. And so I shall try to deal with the jobless thingy more gracefully. More like a lady.

Hey Kids,

Arent we all so fortunate to be living in a country where Education is accessible.

Arent we all so fortunate to afford education.

Well, my dear readers, not everyone in the world are as fortunate as us here in Singapore. Our fellow human race in Africa are living in conditions way below poverty and most girls arent allowed to attain education as many families do not have the money to send their daughters to school.

So why not just take a few minutes today and help them. All you have to do is click on the “Help Educate Girls in Africa”, do an extremely no brainer short survey. Your answers would be able to help these girls. Depending on how many you choose to answer, one survey equates to one day of school.

Today is a very exciting day for me!! I just got a call from Urban Decay (Sephora) and they want me to come in for an interview for the position as a Make Up Artist!! Alot of people have been giving smack about how I have my Masters and still want to pursue a career in Make Up, but hey I mean it is stepping stone for me to get my foot into the brand isnt it? Thats how I think anyways.

Verdict - 3.5 out of 5 lippes!

The mask does make your face feel oh so very soft and supple. Its definately hydrating and I have a intense feeling that if I were to use it more, the results would be better. So would I re-purchase this, yes. It is one of the best mask I have ever used. I mean considering how sensitive my skin is and how it did react nicely to it makes it very attractive for me.

Paraben. Good or Bad?

Its finally FRIDAY! YAY! WEEKEND LOVE! Makes no freaking difference for me considering I dont have a job. Everyday is like a friday or saturday or sunday. BLAH! Dont know how much longer of not doing anything I can tolerate. Anyways…

I dont know if many of you have heard of this ingredient called PARABEN? It is also sometimes printed as methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben and ethylparaben. It is commonly found in products such as toothpaste, shampoo, moisturizer…mostly beauty products.

What is PARABEN?

Paraben is used in the aforementioned products as preservatives. This ingredient helps to kill bacteria and fungi which (I am guessing) allows the product to have a longer life span. It is inexpensive and therefore pretty common in many health and beauty products.

So whats the big deal about PARABEN?

Recent studies have shown paraben has been found in the tumour of women with breast cancer. As many deodorants use paraben, some has thought that this ingredient may have found its way to the breast tissues and is somewhat responsible for the development of the tumour.

There are also some that theorize that Paraben has a negative effect on hormones, affecting the balance of hormones. This might cause depression, weight gain, infertility and low sex drive (http://ezinearticles.com/?What-is-Paraben-and-Why-Should-You-Avoid-It?&id=1467485).

Paraben has also been said to cause allergic reactions to people with highly sensitive skin. Examples of reactions are Contact Dermatitis & Rosacea.

Please understand that there is no MEDICAL EVIDENCE agaisnt Paraben only studies. Which means that this controvesy is not yet a proven fact. NOT IN THE MEDICAL BOOK YET!

My Advise

I mean it is always better to be safe than sorry. Many beauty products now are PARABEN free. They use grapeseed oil as a preservative instead. Sounds more natural and promising.

Gel Liners – Review

Anyways, today’s post is all about gel liners. Are gel liners better than pencil liners? liquid liners? To answer this question, one must ask oneself the type of look that one is going for.

For example, if you are going for the non-heavy make up look then may I suggest a pencil liner or using an eyeshadow as an eyeliner. This would create a subtle look. However, if you are going for a somewhat intense look then I strongly recommend that you use a gel liner or a liquid eyeliner. I prefer gel liners as they tend not to sting the eye like some liquid eyeliners that I have tried (aka MAC).

Moving on to the real point of this entry… Recommendations for good gel liners.

Coastal Scents Gel Liners/ Maybelline Gel Liners

I like them both. Both are highly pigmented and are easy to apply (You need practice when applying gel liners cause theycan get quite slippery..you’ll know what I mean).

Price

Coastal Scents : USD$6.95

Maybelline Gel Liner : S$19.90 (Watsons having sale now, 20% off)

Verdict

Like I said before, I like them both. Both have great textures. Coastal Scents offer more colour variations from plum to green to basic black whereas Maybelline only offers black and brown. In terms of prices, you would get a great deal out of coastal scents only if you purchase more than one item from their website cause including shipping and exchange rates, it would probably come up to the same price.

So its really entire up to you guys, can you wait for shipping or need something immediately? Your choice. These two brands are the best when it comes to Gel Liners.

I have tried others such as Bobbi Brown Gel Liners and although it is equally good (seriously the texture of the BB one is exactly the same as the Maybelline one), the price is a MAYJAH killer. Drugstore items would do the same deed for half the price.
